ABOUT FLUID HEALTH AND FITNESS

Our Motto: Your body was designed to move in very specific patterns. Understanding and applying these patterns prevents injury and pain.  

While your body is complex, understanding how to care for it doesn’t have to be. To remain healthy, you must stay in motion. To stay in motion, you must move correctly. Fluid Health and Fitness will train you to move with greater precision to  prevent, avoid or reduce injury.

Our Philosophy: Know better. Move better. Feel better.  

You can be your own worst enemy. In fact how you move in your daily activities can cause your body to break down. Often, you develop poor postures and movement patterns that distort how you are truly meant to move. The cumulative effect of this damages your joints and connective tissues.

Our Program: At Fluid Health & Fitness, we identify your movement distortions, educate you on how you are intended to move, then guide you through a corrective strength program to bring you back to balance.

While the base of our program is functional movement,  we recognize there are many elements that contribute to a balanced, healthy lifestyle. These include performance nutrition, metabolic conditioning, and behavior modification. Our system of combining, and more importantly, balancing these fundamentals will help you to reach your overall goals – whether that be reducing pain, managing weight loss, adding muscle, or getting into a better state of wellness in general.

Ryan Maxwell, CPT, CES

CEO | Founder

National Presenter | Master Trainer | NASM continuing education provider | Celebrity trainer (Jillian Michaels’ “Bodyshred”)

Growing up, I lived in a household where my parents and extended family struggled with obesity and metabolic disease. We went to countless coaches, counselors, and therapists looking for guidance on how to get our health under control. I realized that while these individuals had good intentions of helping my family, there was always something missing. One would focus on diet but give little advice about exercise. Another would give lifestyle and emotional support but disregard movement. The net result being more confusion and frustration than achieving meaningful change. I realized then that to be truly successful, a person needed to have multiple coaches who all worked together. But who had the time or money for that? We certainly didn’t.

That’s why my vision for Fluid Health and Fitness was born from the need to deliver what the wellness industry was lacking: a system that considers and balances all of the elements of health and wellness in a way that fits into your lifestyle. One that meets you where you are at: not where we want you to be. And one that teaches you how your body really works.

So many programs out there focus on just one segment of health while glossing over or charging more for the others. This creates a disservice to their participants as the supporting elements make it possible to create positive changes. So we created an inclusive system that takes the average person looking to be the best version of themselves, and show them how to take a complicated process and make it simple. We give you a roadmap for health. At Fluid Health and Fitness, we call it “maintenance for life”.

Nicklas T. Lemke

Computer Software Engineer

Responsible for the development and design of client portals and databases. Nick is a strategist who likes to transform the requester’s vision into reality. He creates APIs to increase efficiencies while at the same time delivering user functionality. Nick is currently pursuing his Software Engineering Degree at Dunwoody Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In his spare time, Nick enjoys working on his car and discovering new music on Spotify.

Don Brandies

Systems Engineer

Don leads the data analytics program at Fluid Health and Fitness, including the Computer Vision and Deep Learning capabilities.  Don brings to Fluid Health and Fitness over 7 years of business analytics experience from 2 leading medical device companies.  He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Opus College of Business, University of St. Thomas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  

Amy Connors

Content Director

Amy is one of the main content contributors, writing and editing copy, blogs, and research pieces.  Graduating from Hamline University with a degree in psychology, she enjoys  learning about and understanding what motivates people to grow and change. In her free time, Amy likes to read up on technology, science, and  philosophy and playing with her German Shepherd.

Alea Lester, RDN

Nutritional Program Director

Alea is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and the owner/operator of Access Nutrition LLC. Alea has a Master’s of Science in Nutrition and has worked to achieve her credentials as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She also has a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish, allowing her to speak Spanish fluently.

Alea is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Minnesota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has a wide range of nutrition experience working with a variety of clients of all ages, providing individualized counseling to patients regarding weight loss, diabetes or cardiac diet management, medically supervised weight loss and bariatric surgery or specialized diets.

Russ Davies, CPT

Business administration/ Movement Specialist

Russ is a medical device industry professional who has held senior executive roles in medical device businesses in the EU and USA. He is a mechanical engineer by training, and holds an MBA from the Open Business School in the United Kingdom. Russ earned his personal fitness certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and applies his extensive knowledge and experience from his medical device background into personal fitness training.

Carly Schroepfer, CPT

Movement specialist

Carly earned her Personal Training certificate from St. Paul College and a personal fitness certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from St Cloud University. In
her past career she taught, coached, and worked as a marketing communication professional. She enjoys music, long walks, tennis, biking and working out with friends. She enjoys completing sprint triathlons and modifying recipes – “Carlyizing” them!

The effort to improve health and physical strength can be started at any age. “Good Health” is a lifestyle – a lifelong journey, not a program de jour. Decide. Align. Do. Three very important words to me. Decide health is important. Align yourself with all the tools and support you need, and then act on your plan and just Do.

Reed Hermanson, CPT

Movement specialist

Reed holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St Cloud State University and a personal fitness certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). He brings a wealth of experience as a Licensed Building Contractor, and life-long Entrepreneur.

A few of his interests outside the fitness industry are cooking, traveling and anything on water or outdoors.

Robert Roerig Willett

Director of Photography, Video Editor

Rob has a Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. A video, film and music aficionado, he loves the challenge of creating a cohesive video and motion graphics vision. He loves gadgets and playing with emerging technology. In his spare time he likes to play all kinds of games including video games, board games, and traditional tabletop RPG games.

Iris Rohrer

Massage & Bodywork Specialist

Iris Rohrer is a certified massage therapist who is focused on helping clients heal from injury and
reach their fitness goals. Movement and physical activity have always been important parts of
her life, but after suffering from sports injuries, she became fascinated with the body’s ability to
recover and the way that we can aid that process through manual bodywork techniques. She is
passionate about helping each client enjoy the ability to move and function at their best so that
they can truly enjoy life! Iris is proficient in many massage techniques including sports, trigger
point, deep tissue, myofascial release, scraping, and cupping with drag. She will graduate with an
AAS degree in Clinical Sports Massage in May.

Susan Travis

Member Engagement Director

Susan comes to us with a background in sales and management, where she spent the last 12 years working as a manager at a Madison area health club. She holds a bachelors’ degree from the University of Georgia Grady School of Journalism in Radio/TV/Film Production and Management. Her “before kids” career included national and local television ad sales and working in Public Television operations. Her interests include connecting with Fluid Members, photography, enjoying cinema & plays, group fitness, spending time with her Hubby, two adult children and friends, singing in the UWRF Choir & wasting time on FaceBook. She loves being physically active and is currently re~learning how to move correctly here at Fluid.

Stephen Wilson

Massage & Bodywork Specialist

Hi, my name is Stephen Wilson. I am graduating this May with my sports massage therapist certificate from Saint Paul College. My passion is to help my clients in any way I can. I integrate many techniques, such as scraping, cupping, and working with the fascia lines within the muscle tissue, to help restore the body’s functional movement!

Brett Mueller

Movement Specialist

Brett is a native of small-town Barron, WI, where he was a multi-sport athlete, participating in hockey, baseball, football, and soccer. Brett attended the Chippewa Valley Technical College physical therapist assistant program. Brett then went on to work as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in a private practice outpatient orthopedic clinic where he treated a wide variety of patients with varying musculoskeletal issues to help them reduce pain and increase their activities of daily living. Brett’s ultimate goal is to help the world move well, move often, and move pain-free; which will hopefully allow more people to do what they love and do it well.

Corbett Anderson

NASM, CES, PES, PTA

Corbett’s most foundational goal at Fluid, first and foremost, is to assist you in living and moving more comfortably through mobility training, focused postural re-education & restoration/maintenance of your natural postural balance. Accomplishing this will create an increased quality of life and greater overall health while in the long term helping you to prevent early musculoskeletal degeneration as well as chronic health issues.

For those who are looking to safely return to activity after an extended layoff due to injury or surgery, Corbett (with his extensive background of providing physical therapy to patients recovering from a diverse range of injuries & surgeries), can help guide you through taking that next step once you’re medically cleared, and will help you safely & effectively ease back into an activity routine.

Corbett also provides athletes who are looking to maximize their performance with sport specific training customized to the personal needs of their specific sport and position, including

 

  • in-season strengthening & conditioning
  • off-season training to promote continual progressive improvement
  • optimal warmup plans for reducing chance of injury while also priming the body for peak performance
